It's been a week now and Loki feels a lot better again. Matthias's back is healing too, yet still can be sensitive when touched. Loki needs to be careful not to touch the crusts when she's dressing him up for school or bed. Xynos is still locked up in the territory's own prison, known as the Penalty Building, given the Burgess family doesn't turn in their own members at an actual police station, yet need something in case someone does need punishment. Though, it's really just a punishment for a few weeks, so he'll be out again soon. Her parents-in-law are very kind to her and Matthias, for which she's grateful of course, yet she doesn't feel safe and rather wants to leave the territory as soon as possible. She leaves the palace to get some of her personal belongings. She enters Xynos's house and goes right to the bedroom. She opens her jewelry box and takes out a golden necklace with a pentacle pendant on it. Her mother once bought it for her in secret, when she was ten years old. Loki's eyes get all watery when she thinks back at that moment. Then she safely puts it away in her pocket. The other things in the box aren't really that important to her, so she closes the box again. Then she walks to Matthias's room to look if she can take something for him too. But she remembers the dinosaur plush and quickly runs downstairs and into the kitchen. She takes the toy out of the bin, but it got covered in the foul smelling juice of the food that's been rotting in there too. ''Uhf... WeeWee. I need to clean you before I can give you to Matthias again!'' She thinks to herself. She takes it with her anyway and hopes that it can still be saved by simply putting it in the washing machine. If not, well, then she'll try something else to get it cleaned.
When Matthias returns from school, he wants to go watch cartoons or draw as always, but this time Loki halts him before he goes to his grandparents living room. ''I got something for you, sweetie, and I'm sure it'll cheer you up.'' She says. She reveals the now fully cleaned dinosaur from behind her back, and little Matthias's uninterested face indeed brightens up a bit. ''WeeWee!'' He squeals happily. Loki hands her son the toy and smiles as she watches him playing with it again. ''Thank you, Mama! I love you!'' Matthias says. ''I love you too, Matthias.'' Loki says as she's hugging her son tightly.
That night, Loki's laying in bed, staring at the ceiling. She can't sleep as thoughts about how to flee from here without being caught are spinning through her head. She looks to her left and sees Matthias laying in the bed against the other wall. He's in a deep sleep, and he has his arm wrapped around WeeWee. Loki hopes he doesn't has nightmares about his father, like she does, but he's sleeping rather peacefully, so he's probably not. Then she gets out of the bed, changes clothes and wakes up Matthias. The pup lets out a loud noise as he wakes, but Loki quickly explains to him that he needs to be quiet. ''Matthias, listen closely, sweetie. We're still not safe once your father is being released, so I decided that we're going to run away. Now, we're going to escape from that window over there, so you need to hold on tightly to me, alright? And be really quiet. Do you understand?'' Loki whispers. Matthias only nods in silence to show that he understood what his mother just explained to him. Loki picks Matthias up and places him against her chest. Matthias wraps all four of his arms and his three tails around his mother's body and tightly clings to her. Loki then closes her jacket around him, but only up to his neck so he can still properly breathe. She carefully opens the window and looks outside to see if there are any guards walking around, before she climbs out of the window. She decided not to put on her shoes, so she can make use of the sticky structures on the pads of both her paws and her feet. She climbs up the roof and tries to stay as low and be as quiet as she possibly can while walking over the roof of the palace. She constantly scans the ground for guards and only stays on the sides where there are no guards present. Then she needs to make a jump to an another building's roof. ''It's not that far, I can make it!'' She thinks to herself. The takes a deep breath and then makes the jump to the other roof. She sticks the landing perfectly, but the touchdown made a dull thud on the roof tiles. A guard comes to investigate, so Loki quickly hides away. ''Probably martens.'' The guard says so himself as he turns around again. Loki continues to walk when the guard is far away enough. She spots some dense bushes against the nearest part of the gate. It's in someone's backyard, so the guards won't go there, unless they notice something unusual. Loki carefully climbs down the house into the backyard, and then she quickly runs into the bushes. She first looks through the leaves to see if the guards noticed her, but they seem not to have heard her. She carefully opens her jacket and whispers to Matthias that he can let go now. ''Now, we have to dig under the gate. I'll look out for guards so now and then.'' She whispers extra softly. Both start to dig in the soil. Loki looks through the leaves to see if anyone hears the noise, but no one hears it. Then she instructs Matthias to try to squeeze himself under the gate, but the hole is still a bit too tight for him to fit through. They continue digging a little more, then Matthias tries to squeeze himself through again. This time he crawls to the other side with ease. Loki is still too large for the hole though, so she continues digging. Matthias helps her from the other side, but repeatedly looks behind to see if anyone has spotted him. He's ready to flee into the shadows if someone walks by, but luckily there's no one around. When the hole seems large enough for Loki to fit through, she crawls under the gate and quickly grabs Matthias once she too is on the other side of the gate.
Loki runs until her feet can't carry her any longer, so she finally stops and sits down on a bench. ''What are we going to do now?'' Matthias asks once Loki has stopped panting. ''Well, we're still quite close to the nest. So, I'll continue running after we've rested for a bit. And it's still night, so we have enough time to run as far away as we can, before the nest wakes up and finds out that we're gone.'' Loki explains. ''Will Father find us?'' Matthias asks with a fearful voice. ''I don't know, sweetie. But lets hope not.'' Loki replies. Matthias leans against his mother, tightly holding WeeWee against his face, and Loki puts her arm around him. ''You're tired, sweetie. Close your eyes for a bit. I'll wake you when I'm going to run again.'' Loki whispers to Matthias.
''WHAT?! That filthy CUNT ran away and abducted MY son?!'' Xynos yells. ''Everyone has searched everywhere for them, but they're just nowhere to be found'' Hannibal says. Xynos still hasn't gotten permission to leave the Penalty Building, so he's thinking how to solve this problem. Then he walks back to the door. ''Hannibal, go get Jinx and let him track their scents. I'm sure he'll find them!'' Xynos says. ''Yes, Your Highness!'' Hannibal says with a small bow.
Meanwhile, Loki and Matthias are wandering the streets all the way on the other side of Brighton. Loki tried to sell her golden marriage bracelet, but somehow nobody wants it. Maybe they're afraid to get killed by the Burgess's if they'll find out it's being resold at a pawnshop. They don't have any money, so Loki has resorted to begging for food. Most just ignore them, while som are kind enough to give them a penny or two, or a little bit of food, which Loki mostly gives to Matthias instead of eating it herself. In more rare cases though, microbes either react nasty or they threaten to call Child Protection or an orphanage to at least get Matthias a roof over his head, while leaving his mother homeless still. They run away every time when that happens. Though, after having wandered around searching for food and shelter, and both having lost some weight due to hunger, Loki starts to think about leaving him at an orphanage herself. She can feel all of his ribs and she just can't take it any longer seeing her son like that. On the other hand, if she does leave him behind, the orphanage may in turn bring him back to Xynos. ''No, I can't do it. I just need to try harder searching for food!'' She thinks to herself. Loki hears noises coming from outside the bushes where they decided to stay for the night. Matthias is sleeping so Loki tries to be extra silent while getting up and looking through the leaves.. She sees a group of homeless microbes, all males, sitting around a fire barrel . They seem to have food with them too. Loki's stomach rumbles and she starts to lick her lips upon seeing the food. She wants to approach the microbes to ask for a bit, but she's scared that they might try to rape her. She's immensely desperate to still be able to at least provide her son of the least of food she can get her paws on, though... so she bravely decides to approach the microbes anyway. She leaves the bushes and cautiously walks up to the microbes. They're singing and laughing together, until one notices Loki and points at her. The singing and laughing dies out as all heads turn to Loki. Loki stops and her heart starts to pound like crazy. ''My, what is such a fine virioness like you doing out here on the streets?'' A cytotoxic T-cell ask her. His voice sounds quite friendly, but also concerned. ''I-I want to ask if you could share some of your food... p-please... sir.'' Loki asks. All microbes turn to each other for a second, then back to Loki. ''Sure, angel. Come sit with us and eat!'' The cytotoxic T-cell says, as he signs with his paw to sit down. ''Uh... n-no, sir. I just want to take a bit for my son.'' Loki says. All their faces turn surprised as she says it. ''You're homeless, AND you have a kid?'' A Salmonella bacterium asks. ''Go get your son and let him eat with us too, we have quite enough!' The cytotoxic T-cell smiles at her. Loki returns to the bushes and wakes up Matthias, and then returns to the microbes. She sits down on the ground with Matthias on her lap and her arms tightly wrapped around him. The cytotoxic T-cell hands her a large piece of bread and Loki in turn hand it to Matthias to eat. ''I know that you're afraid of us, angel. But you don't have to worry, we won't hurt you or your son. We're all in this situation together.'' He reassures her. Loki needs to fight her tears as she gets emotional from his words. ''I'm Jim by the way, what are your names?'' He asks. ''Loki. And this is Matthias.'' Loki replies. ''Well, it's nice to meet you two.'' Jim smiles. He watches Matthias quickly gobbling up the bread. ''I know SARS Coronavirus Two eats meat, as does my kind, but this bread is just all we have. ''Jim says. ''But, hey. Even we carnivores will eat bread once we're starving.'' Then he notices that Loki isn't eating, so he grabs another piece of bread and offers it to her. Loki shakes her head as she turns it down. ''We have enough and you look awfully emaciated. Here, take it!'' Jim says. Loki stares at the bread for a few seconds, then takes it and starts to eat it as fast as Matthias did. Then she starts to cry. ''You're so kind to us. Thank you.'' she sobs. ''You can ask us for food anytime, Loki. And you and Matthias can stay here at our place. That is, if you want of course.'' Jim says as he points to the old burned down building nearby. Then he turns back at his friends and starts to sing and laugh with them again. Even Matthias joins in as he finds it all quite fun. Loki sighs and looks up at the night sky, but notices a huge yellow-eyed crow sitting in a tree nearby, watching them. ''You lead us to them, Mama?'' She thinks to herself. The crow caws and flies away.
